CELLULAR POWERHOUSE

Exploring the diversity of Mitochondria in different organisms.  The small organelles or structure, surrounded by a membrane, Mitochondria, is found in most living things and are responsible for producing energy.  Commonly referred to as the “Powerhouse” of the cell.  Mitochondria possess independent DNA and are believed to originate from autonomous bacteria, which are self-governing or self-regulating entities that grow, reproduce, and carry out metabolic processes on their own without being dependent on another organism.  In context Mitochondria is believed to have originated from bacteria that were capable of living independently before being engulfed by ancestral Eukaryotic cells.

“Eukaryotic organism progenitors” is a term that refers to the earliest complex, multi-cellular living beings with a cell structure that contains a central nucleus and other membrane-bound structures.  This denotes the miraculous creation of life that God initiated on Earth.  The Eukaryotic cells exist in a range of living beings from unicellular protists, which is any member of a group of diverse eukaryotic, predominantly unicellular microscopic organisms.  They may share characteristics with animals, plants, or both.

They also have a Cytoskeleton, which is a network of protein fibers within a cell that provides structure support, shape, and controls the movement of substances within the cell.  The Cytoskeleton plays an essential role in cell division, cell signaling, and transport within the cell.

From a Biblical perspective, we can say that God created all living things, including bacteria, as stated in (Genesis 1:21) for it describes the creation of living creatures in the waters.  It is a straightforward account of God’s creative power manifesting in aquatic life and birds. (Colossians 1:16) says that everything was created through Jesus Christ and for Jesus Christ.  This means that Jesus is the origin of all things that exist, and everything was created with purpose to serve HIM.  God created every cell and the intricate molecular machinery that makes life possible, including the autonomous nature of bacteria’s metabolic and reproductive processes.

As human beings, we are part of God’s creation just like everything else in the universe.  However, we are unique in that we were created in the image of God, as stated in (Genesis 1:27).  We not only have a physical body but also a spiritual component, making us capable of understanding and communicating with our Creator.  Our purpose as God’s creation is to love and worship HIM, and to care for and steward the Earth and all living things HE has entrusted to us.  We are HIS human Powerhouses of the universe!
