OFFICE POLITICS

Just a microcosm of the society that it mimics, office politics is a strange otherworld.  In life we reap what we sow, such is true, in the office.

There are seasons in life; at its end there are shifts that naturally occur.  So too, are there shifts within hierarchy of the office.

Rather than ride the tide of office politics, sit back instead and wait for the seasons to shift.  Be the example of one who’s known to do their best, regardless of which way the wind blows today, for it will surely shift again.

Navigating the strange otherworld of the office is possible, only when boundaries are made a priority and office politics are kept outside.  Take a pause from the constant flux of events and give your mind a rest, the politics will be there when you return.

Politics are the same in every office; we must not allow them to travel beyond its walls, they have a way of seeping into the fabric of your life, becoming your identity.  Your work should not define you as a person, it’s difficult to turn off, even beyond the days at the office, if this happens, the microcosm has taken over your reality.

Be the same person, both in and out of the office.

The Bible does provide guidance on how we should conduct ourselves in various aspects of life.  In (Colossians 3:23-24) we are taught that in everything we do, we should put our whole heart into it, as though we were working for the Lord HIMSELF.  Our motivation should be to serve HIM in our work.

Colossians 3:23-24
New International Version

23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Colossians 3:23-24
King James Version

23 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

Colossians 3:23-24
Living Bible

23 “Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord and not merely for your masters,24 remembering that it is the Lord Christ who is going to pay you, giving you your full portion of all he owns. He is the one you are really working for.”
