WISE COUNSEL

Be not jealous of the corrupt; nor have hopes to be in companionship with them.  It is better to use gentle answers to turn away anger rather than use harsh words to plot viciousness and stir trouble.  The mouth of a fool is full of foolishness and the words of the gentle repair and comfort.  The dishonest man looks for wisdom but never find it; knowledge comes easy to those with understanding.  There is no knowledge found in the company of fools.  Blinded by folly; fools lack the common sense to see what is ahead.  The righteous admits and repents of their sins, while fools make fun of it.

The scripture of Proverbs teaches us wisdom, providing instruction to recognize words of understanding.  A young man will gain knowledge and purpose from these scriptures, while increasing in wisdom to attain wise counsel.  There are extreme heights and depths of meaning contained in the Scripture of Proverbs.  Written in the days of Solomon, the book of Proverbs feed us with practical advice for living that still applies in today’s world.

Sin can seem attractive offering a fast pathway to prosperity while giving us a feeling of being part of the in-crowd.  Appealing, as it may seem, sin is deadly.  Our choices are wise when we don’t make them from the appeal of a short period of pleasure, but instead based on the long-term effects it can have on our lives.  Staying clear of those who negatively impact our decisions into doing things that we know are wrong, is the best course of action.  To befriend wickedness, and not expect our lives to be troubled, is foolishness.

God, tells us through His Holy Scripture, listen to and abide by my Word, for there is treasure in my instructions.  God’s Word will deliver us from evil and keep us from men of corrupt speech who draw us away from the path of righteousness to walk in darkness.  The crooked path where sinful men rejoice in doing evil and delight in their sinful behavior.

Wisdom will protect men from the immoral seductress who flatters with her words.  Those who visit her are doomed, never to regain the path to life.  To have fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom that makes us run from evil, having the glow of good health and bones that vibrate with life.  This earns us the reputation for living well.

Then we can walk on our way safely and our feet will not stumble.  When we lie down, we will not have any fear and our dreams are pleasant.  The Kingdom of God offers us security through His divine wisdom.  Amen

Proverbs 1:7

7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Proverbs 3:23

23 “Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.”

Proverbs 4:1

4 “Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.”

Proverbs 5:1-10

5 “My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;”
