WALK IN THE LIGHT

(John 1:7) Tells us to “walk in the light, as HE is in the light”.  “To bear witness of the light”.

Have you ever found yourself in the company of someone who had more material possessions than you?  Or have you worked with a supervisor who had more experience and knowledge of the profession than you?  Perhaps you’ve come across a minister who knew the scriptures better than you.

In every instance, these people are confident in their understanding and proficiency in their respective fields.  During interactions, you have always been content to play a supporting role to them as your mentors.  Being happy to work in the background as others shined.  Despite their confidence, they can’t help but take notice of your presence.  The true measure of someone’s character is revealed when they allow you to shine and are happy to support you while working behind the scenes.  A great leader has the ability to identify a genuine protégé.

Those who walk in the light of God are able to experience a deeper connection to HIM and to others who are also walking in HIS light.  It allows us to live a life of spiritual clarity, purity, and freedom from the darkness.  Through faith and obedience to God, we can experience HIS love, grace, and peace, which can transform your life and the lives of those around you.  Walking in the light of God gives you a stronger sense of purpose and meaning as you align your life with HIS divine will.  Those of the light are drawn to one another.

As mentors, it’s important to recognize when we see traces of ourselves within our protégés and to encourage them to shine, just as Jesus welcomes us into HIS light.  Where we bear witness and “testify concerning that light, so that through HIM all might believe.”
