CALLS TO MINISTRY

When a man wonders if he’s called for ministry, he should be encouraged to seek God’s guidance and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit within him. (Jeremiah 33:3) Illustrates to us that a decision to answer the call of the Almighty to serve in ministry is a sacred and personal one.  It cannot be made lightly, but with deep prayer, obedience, and a pure and sincere heart that seeks to serve the Lord and HIS people. (Colossians 3:17) This scripture is telling us that as followers of Christ, everything that we do should be done with the intention of glorifying HIM.  We should live our lives in a way that represents Jesus and HIS teachings, and everything we do should be done to honor HIM.  To become a representative of the Lord, we must first believe in HIM and accept HIM as Lord and Savior.  Once that decision is made, focus should be on living a life that reflects your faith in HIM.  Those who accept this Divine call, awaits them, the Gift of The Holy Spirit.

Each man’s journey is unique and may include a variety of experiences that prepares him for ministry.  God knows our hearts and has a specific plan for each of us.  Truly, possessing the power to perform signs and wonders is not always a definitive sign of being called to this sacred ministry.  We should know that ministry is not about titles and recognition, but about sincere dedication to serving God and HIS people with humility. (1 Peter 4:10-11) Tells us how to use our individual gifts.  Instructing anyone who serves to do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  “To HIM be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”

God may choose a man for ministry in one of three ways: through calling, endowing with gifts, or appointment through the Holy Spirit.  As written in the Scriptures, many people may be called or appointed by man for ministry positions.  However, only those who are sanctified and chosen by the Almighty Creator HIMSELF are truly authorized for HIS Holy service.

Therefore, let us yield all appointment to ministry to God. (Acts 2:38) Tells us what to do to receive, “this gift, the Holy Spirit”.  Those with this anointing has been set apart by God for the specific purpose of ministry.  Some have a Divine calling placed inside them, and it is up to them to recognize and fulfill that calling.  That they may be witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.
