STILL

Remain still and watch the motion of everything in your surroundings.  Motions that are slowed only by the stillness of time.

The powerful verse (Psalm 46:10) is often interpreted as a call for believers to stop striving, to cease their own efforts and to recognize and acknowledge the supremacy of God.  To “be still, and know that I am God”.  Times of trouble and turmoil calls for quietness, a cease of frantic activity, and trust that God is in control. HE will be exalted among the nations and throughout the earth.  Trust in God’s plan, even when circumstances are uncertain.  In (Exodus 14:14) too, reminds us of God’s power and sovereignty, even in times of trouble and uncertainty.  Remain still and trust in God’s protection and deliverance.  The best action is to be still and trust in HIS plan. (1 Samuel 12:16) In Samuel’s speech to the Israelites, he asks them to witness the power and majesty of God.  They only needed to stand still and see the great things the Lord is about to do before your eyes!

Standing still to witness God’s work is a repeated theme in Biblical text.  The concept of calm and stillness is symbolic of our faith in the power of God, that HE will bring evil works of the enemy to its fiery end, where they are tormented without ceasing at the end of an endless fall, where they shall be cast into outer darkness beyond reach of light, for their sins against God.  And not until then do they comprehend the stillness of time.

The Day of Judgment is upon us.
