THE 3 HIERARCHIES

The nine choirs of angels divide theology into three hierarchies.  In the first hierarchy are the Seraphim, second Cherubim, and third Throni.

In Christian angelology, Seraphim, is regarded as belonging to the highest order of the ninefold celestial hierarchy. (Isaiah 6:1-4) Seraphim’s are associated with light, ardor, and purity.

The Cherubim is regarded in traditional Christian angelology as an angel of the second highest order of the ninefold celestial hierarchy.  They are placed by God, and are guardians of Paradise.  Winged angelic being described in Biblical tradition as attending on God. (Genesis 3:24) explains after Adam’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden, cherubim’s, along with the flaming sword, guarded the entrance to the Tree of Life.

Throni, meaning seats and thrones of the kings, are the third highest order in Christian angelology.  It is from them that the Lord delivers HIS righteous judgments on all things created through and for HIM.  They are the thrones, powers, rulers, or authorities, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible. (Colossians 1:16)

The heathens divided the angels into thirty-three orders.

These more than celestial spirits are sons of God because they continually behold the order of divine providence.  Being foremost in the goodness of God, they praise HIM continuously and pray for us.  They can steer away that which interfere with the laws of God.  These three, of the nine hierarchies, oversee the heavens and occasionally perform great wonders.  Engaged in divine affairs while they institute and regulate the worship of God amongst all men.  They control the light, and have influence of the strong, so that their power may proceed from God to the lower regions.

Since God the FATHER gave to the son, our Mediator, Saviour, and Redeemer, all power in heaven and on earth and the angels of the great name of God and Jesus, which is the first might in God, it flows, accordingly into the twelve angels and twelve signs, through which it spreads into the seven planets, and, as a natural consequence, into all other servants and instruments of God.

All men who believe in HIM are enlightened through HIS brightness, our souls are united with HIM, and the divine power emanating from HIM is communicated to us.  This is the movement of heavenly powers!

On account of the order of all things, God has set them before us as instruments, and which we, on account of their honorable office, are to regard as the noblest creation of God.  Next to God, according to their station, not as gods but as creatures which HE has appointed as twelve princes over the twelve gates of heaven, that they may admit what they received from the divine name, transposed twelve times.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.”

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.”

It shook the Temple to its foundations, and suddenly the entire sanctuary was filled with smoke.”
