Thomas Sowell once said, “There are few things more dishonorable than misleading the young. It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.”
If we take the Thomas Sowell quotes, and replace them with the light of God’s truth; the analogy would read something like, a God of truth would never mislead His children. For God not to mislead us, there are moments when He allows us to see the evil that is on every side. It is our responsibility to listen to God and not the loud evil influences of the world, or in our own heads. God will show us good things or allow us to see approaching hazards if only we will listen.
Thomas Sowell also said, “The course of history is determined by what people do with their opportunities. The first lesson of economics is scarcity; there is never enough of anything to fully satisfy all those who want it.”
Planting a seed of encouragement when the opportunity presents itself is honorable, and reproduces the likelihood of our wise act being repeated. Living this way ensures there is no scarcity of encouraging, wise acts to go around.
The Word of God speaks about us being disciples to others as a means of planting seeds in the earth that will take root and flourish. Sharing the Good News of God’s truth to others will move His Kingdom forward.
Thomas Sowell said the first lesson of economics is scarcity, he also said, “The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.” Are we to only speak truth to the young, recognize our own ignorance, alter the course of history, and consider scarcity while forgetting it, all at the same time? The answer is yes.
In the truth of God, we do not have to die unhealed or live in the sickness of secrecy. Repent so that you are not misled, nor have desire to mislead. Whether religion or politics, teach and speak truth, so the world flourishes in truth. All the time operating from a place of surplus, for God’s Word has an endless supply of truth for all who want it.
