VEIL LIFTED

The history of Israel has fascinations such as the history of no other nation presents.  None had ever so wonderful a beginning; none ever had so tragic an end.

The history of Israel, or at least the Biblical version of it, is better known to many than is the history of their own country.  The heroes of the Old Testament stand out in our memories more than many of our own national heroes.

The history of Israel, is not alone, the history of the Jews.  It is the history of the world, of all mankind.

Unlike Rome, which gave the world a system of law, and Greece, which gave birth to immortal art, poetry, and science—Israel has given to the world a peculiar kind of literature.  This literature is unlike any other kind, for it is permeated from beginning to end with Religion.  The writers in this nation have set themselves to tell a connected story, to put on the record all the words and deeds of its teachers and leaders.  So excellent did these writers perform their tasks, that even today they retain all their original vitality.  The world owes Israel, (and very few who will question), the fact that we have the Old Testament.  Moreover than that, two of the world’s great religions trace their origin directly to the religion of Israel.  They are Christianity and Mohammedanism.

There have been many omissions and misinformation given regarding Moses, that it is necessary to give a brief history of Israel, as told in the Holy Scripture, so that we may see the man in true relation to his times.  By doing so, we may have our Veil Lifted and have many things unfolded to us.  The Scribes, those who wrote down the history of Israel, were authorized to perform this complicated work.  In reflection, the Old Testament reveals that we are at the beginning of one course of development and at the same time the end of another.  Even Prophets, who lived and wrote before the exile, did not regard their religion as something, which came about in their own day, nor did they claim to have brought it about by their own study.  Their earliest writings reveal that the truths they set forth were taught by a series of prophetic men before them.  As a sign of reverence and submission to God, we lift and remove our Veil, paying homage to Holy Prophets as a token of our respect.

Leaders of today with great power, who too possess large egos, have an ability to cancel out both power and ego when you forget to honor those who came before.  You are as children, who have forgotten your Creator while in youth, and the evil years have come, and you no longer enjoy living. (Ecclesiastes 12:1) You lack the understanding that God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, never grows tired or weary.  HIS depth of understanding is beyond human comprehension. (Isaiah 40:28) HE will not allow a few evil leaders to destroy the world of future generations.  May God bind, rebuke, and cast you into the bottomless pit, all those in this age, who unjustly seek dominion over the congregation of humankind, in the name of Jesus. AMEN
