Good and just leadership is necessary for building a virtuous society. Decency is a reflection of God’s own character and a way for HIS people to honor HIM. To be decent is a way to live a righteous and holy life, as a light in the world.
(Romans 13:1) Emphasizes the importance of submitting to, and respecting the governing authorities within our society. It highlights the need for good and just leadership that is established by, and answerable to God. Holy principles have already been established for a society that upholds decency, fairness, and righteousness. Good leadership promotes peace and stability in society. (Proverbs 29:2) This verse is saying that when righteous and just leaders are in power, the people are happy and rejoice. However, when wicked and unjust leaders are in power, the people are discontent, they suffer and groan. (Mark 10:42-45) Teaches that true greatness in God’s Kingdom is not about exerting power and authority over others, but rather about uplifting those you lead, serve and put others before oneself. Jesus HIMSELF set the example by humbling HIMSELF and sacrificing HIS life for the salvation of many.
HIS Word is a strong foundation for the importance of good and just leadership in society. It teaches that leaders are accountable to God, that their actions have a direct impact on the well-being of the people they govern, and that they should lead with humility and a servant’s heart.
How can we prevent a void of good leadership? Such voids are only accompanied by chaos, corruption, and the spread of evil. The world needs righteous leaders who are appointed to guide and protect the people. For under this rule shall be no social unrest, economic turmoil, or political upheaval.
Turn to God; seek HIS guidance and wisdom to fill any spiritual void through prayer, repentance, and the study of Holy Scripture. Encourage the people to acknowledge their need for God. In this way, greed, envy, and wickedness are not allowed to flourish, because it creates a void that hinders the operation of a decent society.
