“Weight of Ego”
If you’re exploring ego,
from a psychological, philosophical scope,
know this:
In the Bible, ego’s dressed in self,
boasting in what you built,
trusting more in your grip
than the hands that molded the clay.
It’s not just a mindset,
it’s a misalignment.
A quiet rebellion dressed in ambition,
an inner throne we dare to sit on
while whispering HIS name.
But Romans 12 verse 3 slices clean:
“Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought to think…”
“…but think with sober judgment,”
“…according to the faith God has assigned.”
See, this isn’t God asking you to shrink,
It’s HIM asking you to see straight.
Not to dissolve, but to revolve
around HIM, not you.
‘Cause pride will preach,
“You earned this.”
But humility knows,
“I was gifted this.”
And Jesus,
The ONE with every crown,
stepped down,
wore thorns instead of gold,
stooped low, so we might behold
what real power looks like
when love is its root.
So check your heart.
Who’s at the center?
Whose name are you echoing
in your victories, in your storms?
Lay your ego at the altar.
Let it burn.
Let it rise as smoke,
while you rise in HIM.
This isn’t about thinking less of yourself,
It’s about thinking of yourself… less.
So HE can be more.
Always more.
So let us lay down the weight of our egos at the foot of the cross, and walk in the freedom of humility, not as those trying to prove our worth, but as those who know where it truly comes from.
Amen
