CHAIN

“The Chain of Grace”

When a friend, not kin, not blood, not bound by birthright or your last name, lends a hand, unasked, without a ledger or a string, That’s grace. And grace is not a favor on credit. Grace is not a transaction. Grace is a miracle cloaked in the ordinary. It’s Christ at the well, offering living water to the Samaritan who didn’t even know she was thirsty. When someone lifts you, from the ditch of despair, or the dull ache of daily struggle, and says, “Keep it,” not “You owe me,” you’ve just tasted heaven’s currency. But don’t hoard it. Grace was never meant to sit in vaults. Because though you may never repay that favor, you are now in the chain. The living chain of mercy. And the call is not “repay,” but “repeat.” So when your neighbor stumbles, or the stranger’s hands tremble with need, you don’t ask, “Do I know them?” You ask, “What has been done for me?” And in that memory, you become the miracle. This is the gospel on foot. Not just preached, but walked out. One favor at a time. Not backwards, forward. Jesus said, “Freely you have received—freely give.” That’s not just theology. That’s economy. Kingdom economy. Where kindness compounds, and love never returns void. So, when the ledger is blank, and no one is watching, pay it forward anyway. That’s how grace moves, person to person, heart to heart, until the world is drenched in the ripple of redemption. Amen
