BUSY
“Be still, and know that I am God…” (Psalm 46:10) “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things…” (Luke 10:41) They say the devil doesn’t need to destroy you, He just needs to keep you, Busy. Busy with nonessentials, running in circles while your soul starves in silence. He whispers, “Chase success,” but never lets you rest. He loads your schedule with good things to keep you from God things. You work long hours to maintain a lifestyle that costs your peace, your health, your family, your faith. Debt piles high and joy runs low. You swipe to escape, scroll to numb, but you can’t hear Heaven through the noise of notifications. Your Bible collects dust while your inbox overflows with sales, schemes, and distractions. You know the price of everything but the value of nothing. Homes disintegrate because there’s no time to eat together, pray together, or even weep together. And when the home breaks, there’s no refuge from the grind. Screens flash faces and bodies that redefine beauty and breed discontent. Lust replaces love. Comparison kills contentment. So now, you’re too tired for intimacy, too wired to rest, and too drained to pray. Your holidays are hollow days, Santa and the bunny distract you from the Lamb and the Cross. You fight for every cause except the one that saves souls. You champion justice but neglect mercy. You work in your own strength, never tasting the joy of God’s power working through you. You say you’re living your best life, but are you living HIS life? Or just, Busy? Jesus didn’t call us to be frantic. HE called us to follow (Matthew 4:19). HE said, “Abide in Me” (John 15:4), not “Hustle for ME.” Martha was busy. Mary was still. Only one chose what mattered most, and Jesus said it would not be taken from her. (Luke 10:42) So, Church, here’s the truth: There’s a difference between being busy and being fruitful. One wears you out, the other builds you up. One distracts, the other transforms. So choose today: Not the rat race, but the narrow path. Not empty motion, but Divine direction. Because the greatest danger is not falling behind, It’s running hard in the wrong direction.
