CULTIVATE HUMILITY

At the very heart of cultivating true humility, lies the recognition of God as the ultimate source of all blessings in your life.  We advise abiding by God’s laws to avoid going against HIS will.  God desires us to live in accordance with HIS plan for our lives.  Follow HIS teachings and commandments while expressing our love and devotion to HIM, all while humbly acknowledging HIS supreme authority over all things.

In (Matthew 20:26), Jesus is speaking to HIS disciples.  HE is reminding them that whoever wants to be great among them must be a servant, just as HE HIMSELF came to serve and to not be served.  It was Jesus who taught on humility and service to others, which HE demonstrated throughout HIS life and ministry.

Focus on the benefits of doing things God’s way, as we nurture attitudes of gratitude, and express thankfulness to God for the blessings in our lives.  Recognize your own limitations and dependence on God to better understand and follow HIS ways.

Take the time to be a great listener, for it is an act of humility to attentively listen to the viewpoints of others.  In this way, we build stronger and more meaningful relationships when people feel valued and respected.  We can better understand each other’s thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.

Effective communication increases knowledge and learning.  It enhances problem solving and we can more effectively identify and address issues and challenges.  Misunderstandings and assumptions are avoided when we effectively communicate.

Moreover, embrace all feedback and constructive criticism openly, and view them as opportunities to grow and become a better person in the sight of God.  One must realize that all people, including oneself, are prone to make mistakes.  By forgiving both oneself and others for past mistakes, we embrace a humble posture that cultivates a heart of compassion, empathy, and grace.
