FOREVER GOOD
Faithful through the ages:
Psalm 100:5 expresses that God is inherently good, consistently loving, and faithful to all people across all generations. It emphasizes the enduring nature of HIS character as a reason for trust and worship.
The speaker is the psalmist, a human worshiper or leader in the community, addressing the people of Israel (or all worshipers). The psalmist is proclaiming truth about God, particularly about HIS character and enduring faithfulness. Possibly a priest, Levite, or temple singer, composing a hymn of praise.
To the community of worshipers, likely during public worship or a procession into the temple. It may also be a call to all the earth (as suggested by verse 1: “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!”), so it can be read as a universal invitation to recognize God’s goodness.
YOU are good, YOU are kind,
Through the ages, love Divine.
Faithful FATHER, ever near,
Generation to generation, YOU are here.
In every sunrise, in darkest night,
YOUR mercy shines, YOUR truth is light.
We sing YOUR name, we lift YOU high,
YOUR love forever will not die.
YOU, my God, are forever good.
