FRICTION
Where light meets resistance, truth meets denial.“Without Honor in His Own House”
“A prophet is not without honor, except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” (Mark 6:4) They say, “Home is where the heart is,” But what happens when the heart breaks, Not from outside enemies, But from the silence of familiar faces, The side-eyes of siblings, The indifference of those who once prayed with you, You stepped out in faith, Answered the call. You said yes when others stayed seated. But suddenly, Your obedience becomes their mirror, And that mirror reflects compromise. Not everyone rejoices when you rise. Sometimes, They don’t hate you, They hate what your yes says about their no. Your light starts to shine, And shadows get nervous. Truth doesn’t scream, It simply stands. And in its presence, Everything hiding gets uncomfortable. That’s not arrogance. That’s alignment. Spiritual gifts are a mystery to those Still sorting through their own disappointments. So they criticize, Minimize, And sometimes just, look away. But the wound hurts more when it has your last name. Jesus knew this. HE healed strangers. Multitudes followed. But in Nazareth? “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son?” They couldn’t see the Christ through the carpenter. Couldn’t receive the miracle because they remembered the boy from the ‘hood’. Familiarity can breed dishonor. And dishonor breeds spiritual drought. Even Jesus, Could not do many miracles there. And so I say to the one who feels unseen: You are not broken, You are called. You are not rejected, You are refined. They may not clap. They may not come. They may not say your name, But heaven echoes it every time you obey. The enemy targets the home Because he fears what unity unlocks. One house in agreement can shake nations. One family in prayer can birth revival. So yes, sometimes your greatest warfare Is around your dinner table. Your harshest critics share your DNA. Just as (Matthew 10:36) foretold: “A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” But still, Prophesy anyway. Preach anyway. Sing anyway. Build anyway. Love anyway. Because honor doesn’t begin at home, It begins in heaven. And your FATHER sees. Your reward is not in applause, But in faithfulness. Let us pray: God of the called, Strengthen every prophet without honor. Hold the hearts of those who walk alone. Remind them that YOU Yes, YOU were also rejected by YOUR own. Give us grace to stand in love, To serve without offense, To shine without shame. And if we must be misunderstood, Let it be for the sake of righteousness. If we must be resisted, Let it be because the light is too strong for shadowed rooms. But still, let us shine. In Jesus’ name, Amen
