Moses saw that the people were crumbling inside. He saw that what they needed was a certain pride and arrogance. So long had they been under oppression, the lash of tyranny, pride was unknown to them. Their heads must be lifted up; then they might see the glory of God.
Although the people had never tasted war, much less victory, Moses told them that his Right Hand with the Rod would be raised in their favor and the Power of God will come to their aid. Moses stood on the top of a hill and raised his rod in his right hand as Joshua and his poorly armed followers went forth to do battle. (Exodus 17:9) A long battle and the tide of conflict shifted as the tides of the sea. Whenever a great weariness came upon Moses and his arms faltered, then would the tide of battle go against the Hebrews. (Exodus 17:11) Aaron and Hur propped a stone beneath the tired Moses until strength flowed back into his arms and he raised the rod again at full length with a steady hand. Magically, Power flowed through the fighting men of Israel and they whipped the Amalekites, and like all conquering nations, they were proud.
The modern Amalekites are people united by their private views, interest, and ideology. They inhabit a land that God has given HIS children the power to cross. You Amalekites, who are living in an evil existence unbeknownst to those outside of your group, here is the commandment of God to you. (1 Samuel 15:2)
An ambient tyrant, they rule by keeping their victims in a constant state of heightened anxiety. By eroding away any sense of dignity of those under their oppression until they feel powerless. A constant undermining of a sitting target’s self-confidence until they doubt their own perception of reality. This kind of abuse happens in subtle ways and is difficult to recognize.
Using personal knowledge of their victims to charge them with being paranoid and irrational when they express any opposition to being oppressed. Once psychologically destroyed, it is almost impossible to strategize an escape.
While lost in the wilderness, the Israelites began to undergo enmeshment issues with Egypt. They were like alienated children that had an unhealthy enmeshment with an oppressive abuser. When in Egypt, they became overly intertwined with the enemy, to the point of wanting to meet the oppressor’s needs, that they lost touch with their own. This occurs when there is an imbalance of power in relationship. The oppressed are unable to set limits based on the demand to please the oppressor at all cost.
Isolation is a scheme used to chip away the support system of the oppressed. Like a controlling mother or father who denies their children any independence, being dreadful caretakers who assume the bulk of responsibility because of their need for constant reassurance from the children. Believing they are placing the family’s needs above their own. Instead becoming physically and emotionally drained as result of their logic. In biblical days children were used as weight against the will of the parents. This strategy of Satan is still in practice today, though only popular with parents under this same generational curse. The offspring who go along with this grasp of control are the golden children. Those who reject their control become the scapegoats and are subject to wrath or rejection, but they are direct opposites.
However, when a child grows and finds love and acceptance elsewhere, their heads are lifted and sense of self-respect, and dignity are restored. With restoration, fighting off darkness is made easier. We may be residents of this world, but our allegiance is to another King and another Kingdom. We are servants of the Kingdom of God, where we prosper and shall be highly exalted. (Isaiah 52:13) Owing no loyalty to the secrets of the oppressors of this world that they may be revealed and not allowed to maintain their positions of power.
