ORDER

To place in ‘ORDER’ means the – “arrangement or disposition of people or things in relation to each other according to a particular sequence, pattern, or method.”  It could also mean a statement made by a person with authority that instructs someone to do something: An instruction or direction that must be obeyed.

This word, ‘Order’ is used in Business, Law, Military, Culture, and Philosophy.  There are instances that ‘Order’ is used to maintain or reestablish stability, structure, or rule.  Another use of the word ‘Order’ describes symmetry, pattern, alignment, or uniformity.  When one in authority issues an ‘Order’, it means judgment, decision, decree, stipulation, writ, ruling, or injunction.

When praying to GOD, the word ‘Order’ works only in one direction, simply because we have no authority to ‘Order’ anything of God.  We do not select items from a list of options and then request that God supply, deliver, or produce those things.  It is HE that gives the ‘Order’ and we who must follow HIS instructions, for it is HE that is in authority.

Good order is the foundation of all good things.  As when a person’s bodily organs are in ‘Order’ they can be presumed to be in good health.  There is a precise arrangement of things whether the circumstances might be the ‘Order’ of troops, books in a library, proceedings in a legislative assembly, or rules for living provided by God.  The dealings of life are determined by ‘Order’.

When we live according to God’s established rules, we have peace, and there is no need for us to wander away from questions surrounding our loyalty to HIM.  We then are living life awake, knowing that God brings ‘Order’, to a person sanctified, in a sanctified place, and at a sanctified time.

There is power in biblical ‘Order’.  When sin takes hold of things of the earth, it produces confusion.  We are told in, 1 Corinthians 14:33

33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

1 Corinthians 14:40

40 “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

James 3:16

16 “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

Titus 1:5

5 “For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:”

Romans 13

13 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
