Looking closer into the meaning, the question arises, What does it mean to have a “Reprobate Mind?” A reprobate mind is spoken of in Romans 1:28. That Bible passage speaks of God giving them over to a reprobate mind.
This verse is referring to the godless and wicked that God has rejected, giving them over to a reprobate mind, because of their suppression of truth through their wickedness. A people who failed to preserve, retain, or keep God in their knowledge. Literally speaking, if you are viewed as a depraved, unprincipled person, one with a hypocritical sense of right and wrong, its possible you have been given over to a reprobate mind. As one who acquires a sinful mind through self-righteous and haughty conduct, God steps back and allow people to wallow in their personal control over themselves relating to a self-governing attitude of living. A person or society who rejects God’s way as set forth in His Word, and with their own graving tools, fashion a “molten calf” of systems void of God, He turns them over to a reprobate mind. Where sinful rule exist, the true God is not present. The puffed-up people, inflated by their own self-importance, straying far from God’s Way, find themselves deceived by their own reprobate mind.
When the meaning of truth is altered, there is a marked change of awareness that occurs when left to our own devices. The Word of God is truth and embedded within it is truth that transforms the believer through their sense of reasoning causing a transformation of the mind. A reprobate mind is a mind that rejects God and therefore God allows that mind to have rule over the person. It is only by the grace of God that one controlled by their reprobate mind can see beyond their own conceit. God’s grace, if asked for by the believer, will cause a shift in viewpoint and an understanding that HIS ways are not the same as our ways. His Divine Laws were given to us for good reason. Before it is too late, return to HIS Laws, and cast out the laws of our reprobate minds. Allow HIS Word to inspire, encourage, and broaden our worldview. Base this on the simple premise that great writings inform and inspire which causes an enriching positive change or transformation.
