SEVEN
In Holy Scripture, seven is symbolic for completeness and perfection.“The Seven Petitions”
Our FATHER, not distant, not abstract. FATHER, close, Holy, and listening. First Petition: Hallowed be Thy Name, let YOUR name be sacred in every tongue, every heart. Not just spoken, but honored. Second Petition: Thy Kingdom come; break through the noise, Lord. Establish YOUR reign in us, around us, through us. Third Petition: Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, not our agenda. YOURS. Perfect will. Perfect peace. Here, now. Fourth Petition: Give us this day our daily bread, supply what we need. Not just food, faith, strength, wisdom. Today’s grace for today’s trials. Fifth Petition: Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Mercy in. Mercy out. We release others as YOU release us. No chains. No grudges. Freedom. Sixth Petition: Lead us not into temptation. Guard our steps. Pull us back when we lean too close to the edge. Seventh Petition: Deliver us from evil. From the seen and unseen. From the enemy, the lie, the trap. Deliver us, O God. Some are wondering, what does that mean? Tell them: For THINE is the Kingdom, not ours. The Power, unmatched, unshaken. The Glory, forever. Beyond time. Beyond borders. Forever and ever. Amen
