THE CODE

The streetwise perspective of operating under a particular code of conduct means adhering to a set of rules, principles, and guidelines that dictate one’s behavior in various situations.  The code is typically based on the specific environment or culture of the streets, and it may include things like loyalty to one’s community, respect for authority figures, or rival groups, and a willingness to use violence when necessary.

Operating under a code is seen as a way to maintain order, protect oneself, and one’s group, while establishing a sense of identity and belonging.  Breaking the code can result in consequences, such as being ostracized, physically harmed, or even killed.  The lesser penalties are the loss of one’s reputation or status in the street community.  People who operate under this code understand and follow it obediently.

The street codes come with potential titles from being familiarized with the navigation of the streets.  Knowing the importance of operating under the code helps us traverse our asphalt jungles.

Actually the code existed long before the streets.  It means that you behave with honor and respect.  However, the code we are referring to is not an unwritten one, but it was written as a letter to believers in Christ.  It was left as a blueprint to follow that helps us navigate life.  Operating under God’s code of behavior entails living a life that is aligned with HIS teachings and commandments.

Holy Scripture provides the codes we are to follow which supports this position.  One can be found below in (Matthew 22:37-38).  It highlights the importance of putting God first in one’s life.  Another code of God can be found below in (Romans 12:2).  This verse emphasizes the need to reject worldly codes and mindsets. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Reminds us to trust in God’s guidance and seek HIS wisdom in all areas of life.

These are just a few examples of the Holy Scriptures that support the need for us to operate under God’s codes of behavior.  It ultimately involves living according to HIS will, seeking to honor HIM in all that we do, while following the example of Christ in our daily interactions with others.

HIS code of conduct is one based on principles of love, compassion, kindness, and forgiveness, justice, and righteousness, as outlined in the Bible.  If everyone in the world followed HIS code, there would be no wars, no hate, no violence, no greed, and no selfishness.  Instead, there would be peace, unity, harmony, and a deep sense of interconnectedness among all people.  We would have more respect for human life, dignity, equality, and a greater concern for the welfare of the planet and its creatures.  There would be concern for the poor, the sick, the marginalized, and we would work for the common good of humanity.  This world would be a much better place if everyone lived according to God’s code of conduct.  It should be our goal, but it requires a fundamental transformation of the hearts and minds of people, and it can only be achieved through willingness, action, and faith.
