UNEARNED
The kind of love you were made for: Some of us, were never taught how to receive love. Not because it wasn’t there. The house was full. Voices loud. Laughter maybe, sometimes. But still, you felt hollow. Like love passed by your room, but never knocked on your door. And maybe your siblings got it. Maybe they learned how to speak the language. But you? You learned how to perform. To produce. To be perfect, hoping someone would say, “You’re enough.” You learned love by earning it. Measured in chores done, grades earned, tears hidden, and masks worn well. So now, that’s how you give it too. Love that withholds. Love that waits until it’s deserved. Love that punishes when it feels disrespected. Love with strings so tight, they choke. But hear me: That’s not God. That’s not Love. That’s not HIM. Because “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear”, (1 John 4:18). See, fear moved in where love was absent. Built a home in your heart. Made you question every hug, every “I love you,” every goodbye. But fear can’t stand in the presence of perfect love. And the only perfect love comes from God. Not the love you craved as a child. Not the love that made you earn your seat at the table. No. This love? This love already pulled out the chair. This love says, “While you were still a sinner, I died for you.” (Romans 5:8). This love doesn’t wait for you to get it right. It just is. Freely given. Freely yours. So stop performing. Stop pretending. Stop running. Just, receive. Ask for it. And once you’ve got it, Live from it. Let that love teach you. Heal you. Rewire you. So the love you give won’t look like your pain anymore, it’ll look like HIM. Because HE is love. And HE is yours. And you are HIS. Always were. Always will be. AmenUNEARNED
